Common Questions & Answers
- Why would I want to preplan burial arrangements?
Preplanning is really all about family and survivor protection. Some may think life-insurance will cover the costs, but life insurance is for living expenses, not death expenses. To take death expenses from a life insurance policy can quickly diminish its purpose for the survivor and children in the months following a death.
Honestly, life insurance is only money when it comes right down to it. Preplanning with your spouse gives them what they really need…your help and guidance while you are here with them.
Preplanning sets in motion a number of things that help provide peace of mind for one’s spouse, children, and other survivors. For example:
- Reduces stress, anxiety, and guilt other family members may face at the time of the death of a loved one.
- It allows the person or couple to make their own decisions.
- It keeps other family members from being forced at a very difficult time to make decisions for you.
- It stops inflation by allowing the costs to be frozen at today’s prices.
- It saves a substantial amount of money through pre-need incentives.
- If an unfortunate accident occurs or a long term illness consumes a family, by having your arrangements in order it allows for fewer decisions to be made in a very short amount of time when the arrangements must be made.
- We transferred here to the triangle area two years ago; while we want to protect our family through preplanning, what if we move again to another state?
Wake Memorial Park participates in an exchange program hundreds of other cemeteries across the U.S. and other countries. If a property owner has purchased with us and deems it necessary to move to another area (more than 75 miles) and wishes to transfer their property, we will contact another participating cemetery in your new area for an exchange. This ensures your investment is protected even if you need to move.
- Can I pay a little over time when pre-purchasing or must I pay the full amount all at once?
When preplanning and a death has not occurred, you may elect monthly payments that fit your budget for up to 5 years. There are no credit turn downs. Everyone is pre-approved for our family protection programs at WMP.
- How will Wake Memorial Park be maintained in the future?
We have a perpetual care fund that is regulated by the State of North Carolina that monies are deposited into each time a grave, crypt, or niche is sold. Through out time when there is need for maintenance on the park, the interest alone will be utilized to maintain the grounds. The principle will never be touched. Therefore, you can be assured for generations to come that the park will be maintained beautifully.
- Are there any other perpetual care parks in Cary?
Wake Memorial Park is Cary’s newest and only perpetual care park. We are striving to make your new community cemetery of the highest quality so that it may serve our area well for many generations to come.
- We see the Chapel Mausoleum being built. Isn’t mausoleum entombment only for the wealthy?
On the contrary. Mausoleum entombment is a very dignified, clean, dry form of burial, and perhaps one of the oldest forms of such. In addition to the financing plans to fit any budget, our mausoleum pricing can rival, and sometimes even beat traditional ground burial prices.
- What qualifications does your staff have when helping a family preplan or arrange a burial?
Our Family Counselors are licensed by the State of North Carolina and must adhere to a strict code of ethics to be employed by WMP. Each person is trained by others who have years of cemetery industry experience in taking care of countless families, and each Counselor is provided with continued training to keep up with our changing world.
- What if I wish to be buried traditionally in the ground, however, my spouse wishes to be cremated?
Virtually any combination of burial is available to accommodate couples and families. Our Family Counselors can help you see what is available and how to go about designing a plan for your particular needs.
- Can any faith be interred at WMP?
Yes, WMP is a non-denominational memorial park.
- Do Veterans have any special benefits with WMP?
Yes!! We are in the process of opening our new area specifically designed for Veterans and their family called “The Veterans Garden of Honor.” In addition to being designed for those who have served our country, we have special programs that benefit the Veterans and their families through our family protection plans.
